I'd also give up any thought of pulling focus. Where gimbals work pretty well is close ups on moving subjects, because the human in the picture distracts the viewer from all the lousy operating which quickly sets in. I eventually bought handles for it, which seemed to improve stability and made it easier to manage, but also made it heavier. My gimbal adventures were with lighter gear than what you're contemplating, and even that was no fun. Long shots or short ones, if it's too heavy, it's too heavy.
